Rega is not a company that likes to rush things. Whilst this fast pace world is obsessed with new formats and bigger numbers, Rega took 15 years to produce a CD player. But in a dramatic change in this 1080P world, Rega have released a new entry point turntable. The P1 sports a new arm, the RB100, marking the first new arm tube design from Rega in over 20 years. This retains the sub one micron tolerance main bearing that hallmarks the higher range Rega models. Remarkably the RP1 has a Bakelite platter in the fashion of 1930s valve radios, this being an excellent material to minimise spurious resonances at this critical juncture of vinyl and replay machine so as to lower the noise floor. Also it is the first Rega to ship with a cartridge fully installed and setup. It's a cracking little bundle, why don't you grab a few slabs of wax and pop in for an audition.
