Rotel RC-1590 MkII preamplifier,

When the Rotel engineers in the Zuhai factory were asked to design a new top of the range pre amplifier they were given carte blanche to do whatever they liked to make it a reference product. 

So they ended up with this massively specified twin transformer fully isolated ultra low noise and balanced clean sheet design.  The only thing missing is the commensurate price point, at $2699 list this is a bargain.

Rotel have really out done them selves. The RC-1590 MKII is a very carefully designed reference class 2 channel pre amplifier without the reference class price point. It goes  up against much more expensive pure analogue pre amps and holds its own quite well in the sound quality throw down. It also has more connection options than you could point two sticks at. A raft of RCAs for normal sort of things, balanced XLR for the serious kit, optical and coaxial digital sockets for digital gear, USB for your computer, USB for iOS, BLuetooth

The analogue side of things will treat your music right. This thing has better transformers and more signal handling than most integrated amplifiers. The digital side goes a step further and throws your signal into the embrace of the on-board 32bit DAC. Even the harshest of digital waves turns into beautiful analogue music.
